Florence Rose C. M. Pugh was born on January 3, 1996, in Oxfordshire and raised there. Clinton Pugh, her father, is an Oxford restaurateur, and Deborah Pugh, her mother, is a dancer and dance instructor. Toby Sebastian, an actor, and singer, and Arabella Gibbins, an on-screen actress, are among Pugh’s three siblings.
She spent part of her childhood in the Spanish people community of Andalusia, and her first school was in Sotogrande. Her love of accents and satire began at the age of six, when she was cast as Mary in a Christmas nativity play at Cokethorpe School in Hardwick, Oxfordshire, and decided to play the part with a Yorkshire accent.
While still in school, Pugh made her professional acting debut in the puzzle show The Falling (2014), in which she played an intelligent young person opposite Maisie Williams. Pugh made her first lead role in the TV film Studio City, which also starred Eric McCormack, in 2015.
The following year, she appeared in the independent show Lady Macbeth and had a regular role as a webcam model in the first season of the ITV detective series Marcella. She received the BIFA Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film, among other awards, for her portrayal.
In 2018, Pugh appeared in the activity film The Commuter and in Richard Eyre’s TV film King Lear, where she played Cordelia to Anthony Hopkins’ Leir of Britain. She played Elizabeth de Burgh in the Netflix original film Outlaw King (2018), starring Chris Pine as Robert the Bruce.
Following that, Pugh starred as Paige, an expert wrestler, in Fighting with My Family (2019), her first leading role in a Hollywood film. The film, which stars Lena Headey and Dwayne Johnson and is set to premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, is a parody of Paige’s relationship with her family.
