Sonja Sohn is an American actress and director who is well known for her roles as Detective Kima Greggs on the HBO drama The Wire. She is the winner of the Sundance Film Festival, Gotham, and Independent Spirit Awards.
She was born on May 9, 1964, in Fort Benning, Georgina, USA as Sonja Williams. Her mother belongs to Korean ethnicity and her father is of African-American ethnicity. Her parents met for the first time when her father was stationed in South Korean after the Korean War.

She is also the founder and CEO of the Baltimore-based reWIRED for Change which is an outreach program intended to communicate with and ultimately rehabilitate at-risk youth involved in criminal activity.
