A former football player started his career at the reputed academy Dynamo Beervelde. He had his debut for Eclair de Douala at the age of 15. Two years later, he evolved the Cameroonian school high jump champion.

Similarly, he attended the youth system of the Eclair club of Douala and had his debut on the first team in 1970. Additionally, his team was conquered by Gary Linekar and the English national team. In 1977, he was attracted to Europe by the French club Valenciennes. World cup player, Roger attended AS Monaco scoring twice in 17 league games in one season. Moreover, he attended Basista in 1980 and went to Sain-Etienne in 1984. When he retired from French football, he moved to make a member of the club’s coaching staff.

However, he got a phone call from the president of Cameroon Paul Biya, and reunited with the national team.  Finally, he agreed and went to Italy for the 1990 world cup. In the same way, he supported his team to be the 1st African team to achieve the World Cup quarterfinals. Then, he moved to the 1994 FIFA World Cup, being the oldest player to arise in a world cup. He has shown in a coca-cola advertisement as the founder of dancing whilst honoring when achieving a goal for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Now, he becomes an itinerant ambassador for African causes. The popular former footballer was anointed to the FIFA 100, an index of the 125 most renowned living footballers chosen by the Pele in coexistence with FIFA’s centenary celebrations.
