Larissa de Macedo Machado, better known by her stage name Anitta, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and businesswoman. Shots Studios’ John Shahidi is her foreign manager.

Anitta: Family Life

Anitta was born Larissa de Macedo Machado on March 30, 1993, in Rio de Janeiro, the youngest daughter of Mriam Macedo and Mauro Machado; her creative producer is her brother Renan Machado. Her mother was the sole provider for her two daughters.

Qualification

When she was 11 years old, she took English classes with the allowance money she got from her mother. After that, she enrolled in an administration course at a technical school in Rio de Janeiro.

She started singing in a Catholic church choir in Rio de Janeiro’s Honório Gurgel neighborhood when she was eight years old. She went to a technical school and was hired at Vale when she was 16 years old. Renato Azevedo, then producer of the independent record label Furaco 2000, called her in 2010 after she posted a video on YouTube and asked her to sign a contract with the label.

She signed a contract with Warner Music Brasil the next year after the success of the song “Meiga e Abusada” in 2012.

After releasing the single “Show das Poderosas,” which reached the top of the Brasil Hot 100 Airplay chart in 2013, Anitta rose to national prominence. Its music video on YouTube has been watched over 130 million times.

She performed at the Latin Grammy Awards in November 2014, becoming the youngest Brazilian singer to do so. Bang, her third studio album, was certified platinum in 2015, and included the singles “Deixa Ele Sofrer,” “Bang,” “Essa Mina é Louca,” and “Cravo e Canela.”

Anitta was named Artist of the Year by iTunes in Brazil in 2013, after remaining at the top of the charts for the longest time. She has won the MTV Europe Music Awards five times for Best Brazilian Act, and she was the first Brazilian artist to receive the Best Latin American Act award.

In the same month, the singer hinted that she is bisexual in her Twitter profile, after mentioning that she is “part of the LGBTQ+ culture”. She became vegan in January 2019 after seeing the documentary Cowspiracy (2014).
