Kay Cannon is an American comedian, actress, director, and producer. She is most famous for writing the ‘Pitch Perfect’ film series. She is also the director of the adult comedy film called Blockers.
Kay Cannon was born Kathryn Ellen Cannon on 22nd August 1974 in Illinois, United States. Her nickname is Kay Bo and her birth sign is Leo. She was born as the seven children of her parents, John M. Cannon and Rosemary Cannon.
Amongst her six siblings, four are brothers, Paul, Vince, Matt, and Luke, and two are sisters, Stacie and Mary. Cannon is an alum of Reed-Custer High School, Braidwood, Illinois.
She completed a BA in Theatre and MA In Education from Lewis University, Romeoville, Illinois.

She started her career through comedy and performed sketch and improv at Boom Chicago, The Second City, and The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
After a while in comedy, she tried her hand at acting. Though she worked on projects such as Alone Together, and How to be Single but because of a lack of opportunities, she gave up acting and focused more on writing.
She rose to fame as a writer with the show 30 Rock. After that, she gained further success with Pitch Perfect series and New Girl. Now she has extended her skills into producing and directing. Her first directorial venture was the hit comedy movie Blockers featuring John Cena in a major role.
In addition, she is the writer for other television series like Girlboss (2017), New Girl (2012-2013), and 30 Rock (2012).
Moreover, Kay has also acted in movies and TV shows like Alone Together (2018), Barely Famous (2015), Cristela (2014), The Little Tin Man (2013), and 30 Rock (2007-2009).
Laverne McKinnon and launched a production company named K&L Productions and aims to present underserved stories on the screen in both comedy and drama genres.
Furthermore, Kay is a member of the Board of Directors of Steps Of Faith Foundation, a nonprofit public charity foundation that is dedicated to providing prosthetic care, hope, and comfort to amputees needing financial support.
Kay has won three Writers Guild of America Awards along with three nominations in the Primetime Emmy Awards.
