Baba Ramdev is an Indian yoga guru. He is the co-founder of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. Additionally, people also recognize him for his work in Ayurveda, business, politics, and agriculture.

Ramdev was born in Mahendragarh, India on December 25, 1965, Ram Niwas Yadav and Gulabo Devi. Additionally, he has a brother Ram Bharat. Both of his parents were farmers. He practiced yoga since his early years and the world of Ayurveda always intrigued him as a child. He is of Indian nationality. Furthermore, he belongs to an Indian ethnic background.

Ramdev initially offered free yoga training to villagers when he lived in Kalwa Gurukul in Jind district. Soon, he founded the Divya Yog Mandir Trust in 1995. In addition, the Aastha TV began featuring him in his morning yoga slot in 2003. Eventually, he garnered a large following and soon famous celebrities from India and abroad began attending his Yoga camps.

Ramdev is the founder of several organizations including Patanjali Yogpeeth, Patanjali Ayurved, and Bharat Swabhiman Trust. Furthermore, Ramdev also voiced his support for Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister of India. He has campaigned against government corruption in India. Apart from his work in Ayurveda and Yoga, he is also a recognized author. He has authored books including ‘Prāṇāyāma Rahasya: Secrets of Prāṇāyāma, with Scientific Factual Evidence’, ‘Yog Its Philosophy & Practice’, and ‘Aushadh Darshan’.

Ramdev received the Tarun Kranti Award at Ahmedabad in 2012. Additionally, he has also won the Sri Chandrashekharendra Saraswati National Eminence Award.

In addition, he became part of another controversy after he suggested that sex education should be replaced by yoga education in order to prevent AIDS.
