Roman Reigns has pulled out of his Universal title match with Goldberg at WrestleMania 36.
Roman Reigns will not perform in the Performance Center. This news is leaked by Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin on Thursday night. He had informed WWE he was not comfortable performing at WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando during the coronavirus pandemic.
Reigns have battled leukemia twice in his life with the second bout forcing him to take five months off starting in late 2018.
People with underlying health conditions are vulnerable to the virus and the 34-year-old told WWE as a result of his weakened immune system, he didn’t want to risk his health.
Full respect to Roman for making such a difficult decision. Reigns have been one of the biggest locker room leaders in WWE for years, but his health comes first.
WWE is said to have fully understood his decision and is planning on replacing him in the match with Goldberg. It is not known who the replacement will be at this time.
Stephanie McMahon has noted the many safety precautions WWE is currently taking while filming shows during the coronavirus pandemic.
The company has been taking people’s temperatures and many other health checks before entering the WWE Performance Center, as well as not allowing anyone inside who has been out of the country or in contact with those that have.
WrestleMania is set to air on the WWE Network and on pay-per-view with BT Sport on April 4 and April 5, but it was understood per a PW Insider report that WrestleMania was being filmed on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Whether that was the original plan or not, WWE certainly won’t have finished filming WrestleMania yet.
