In 1986, Nigella Lawson married her first husband, John Diamond. During her time at The Sunday Times, he was also a journalist. She was also dating Geoffrey Robertson QC, a human rights lawyer, at the time. In 1988, he dumped her for novelist Kathy Lette, and the relationship ended. In 1992, she married John Diamond in Venice. They had two children, Cosima and Bruno, and were happily married. The marriage, however, came to an end in March 2001 when John Diamond died of throat cancer.

In September 2003, she married Charles Saatchi, an art dealer. This wasn’t a happy marriage, and it resulted in a public divorce. The issues in the marriage first surfaced in June 2013, when photos of Lawson being kissed at the neck by her husband in a restaurant surfaced. On July 31, 2013, Lawson filed for divorce, and the union was dissolved.

She had to testify in a fraud trial against her former assistants shortly after the divorce. Nigella Lawson allegedly facilitated the credit card fraud for which the assistants were on trial so that they could keep her drug use hidden.

At the appeal, her ex-husband was accused of starting a drug smear campaign against her in the media. She later admitted, however, that she did use cocaine on occasion. Her ex-passive husband’s aggressiveness and manipulative actions during the marriage she blamed for her recreational drug use.

Nigella Lawson has settled into her new home despite the struggles of the previous years. She asserted that she is completely devoid of cocaine. In 2015, she released her book Simply Nigella and returned to television with the BBC show Simply Nigella.
