Kimberley Strassel began her career as a news assistant for the European edition of The Wall Street Journal in Brussels, Belgium. In the years 1994 to 1996, she worked as a news assistant.

In 1996, she became a part of the Editorial Board. There, she was a staff writer and covered technology for The Wall Street Journal Europe, London, the United Kingdom(1996–1999).

After that, in the year 1999, she moved to New York. There, she started covering real estate.

She then moved to The Wall Street Journal Europe in London and worked there as a staff writer for three years. Following that, she made her way to the Wall Street Journal in the year 2007 and began writing a long-running Potomac Watch column with Paul Gigo.
