Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are taking the brakes on their affair.

The “As It Was” singer, 28, and the Don’t Worry Darling director, 38, are “taking a break” from their romance behind almost two years jointly, considerable sources prove exclusively to PEOPLE.

“He’s even traveling and is now moving abroad. She is concentrating on her kids and her work in L.A.,” says one authority. “It’s a very friendly decision.”

Clearly, Wilde along with her children, daughter Daisy, 6, and son Otis, 8 (she co-parents with ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis) was spotted dancing and singing along at Styles’ Nov. 15 show in Los Angeles.

“They’re yet very close friends,” says the origin of the couple. Adds a friend: “Right now, they have further emphases that are holding them separated.”

Styles, who is heading abroad for his Love on Tour guides, and Wilde were first connected in January 2021 after they were photoed grabbing hands while regarding a friend’s marriage.

Earlier month, Wilde was also dotted by fans transporting Fashions from the public at his Harryween concert in Los Angeles on Oct. 31. In late September, the two were photographed kissing on the road in New York City.

Over the period of their relationship, Wilde and Styles have had to endure drama unfolding the getaway of their movie Don’t Worry Darling, namely continuous shares that Wilde and the movie’s leading actress, Florence Pugh, were at odds.

“The public pressure on them has been hard,” says the friend. “They’ve had ups and downs throughout the relationship.”

In September, 40 members of the team and production team were pushed to cast a statement striking back at the endless gossip.

“As a team, we’ve bypassed managing the stupid gossip surrounding the movie we’re so scornful of, but feel the need to correct the unidentified ‘sources’ mentioned in a current article,” said the team, counting that Wilde was “an outstanding leader and director.”

The Booksmart director formerly illustrated to Vanity Fair why she holds details of her affair with Styles secret: “I believe once you crack open the window, you can’t then be furious when mosquitos come in.”

Types, meanwhile, informed Rolling Stone in August that he even desired to keep his private life under wraps.

“I’ve never spoken about my life away from work publicly and found that it’s satisfied me positively,” he informed the platform. “There’s always driving to be a version of a history, and I think I just determined I wasn’t going to expend the time trying to fix it or divert it in some way.”

Though the actress and the Grammy-winning singer never verified their relationship, Wilde was frequently spotted in the public at Styles’ Love on Tour program and was photographed at numerous events sporting his merchandise on coffee runs, including a Love on Tour T-shirt.

The two were noticed kissing on a yacht in Monte Argentario, Italy in July 2021, and in November, eagle-eyed fans saw Wilde wearing what seemed to be the same gold cross chain Styles wore to the Grammys at a fashion show. They were also photographed in Italy jointly this past May.

In a discussion with Vogue posted in December 2021, Wilde did not manage the ex-One Direction singer by name, but declared she was “happier than I’ve ever been.”

“It’s clearly really attractive to correct a false report,” she said. “But I think what you recognize is that when you’re really happy, it doesn’t count what outsiders think about it. All that matters to you is what’s true, and what you love, and who you love.”
